The Reindeer meat was probably the only red meat I had during my trip in Norway. It was so good!  Of course, red wine is the perfect match for this course.

Roast reindeer of Mathallen in Tromsø

These roast dinners were so amazingly tasty. The reindeer meat has a stronger flavour than beef. This red meat was so succulent and tender in the middle but nice and crispy on the outside. Served with seasonal vegetables and trimmings that were also locally produced from the nearby area from the restaurants’ location.

Dried Reindeer Heart

This was the first time that I’ve tried the dried reindeer heart, a favourite snack in the Scandinavian region. I must admit I did have a hard time while eating it, but I told myself that I have to try it. It was like a beef jerky, but the flavour is so powerful andthe texture rubbery. It also reminded me of the scene in Game of Thrones, when Danaerys Targaryen was eating the horse’s heart.

Seafood

Norway is situated in the Northern Atlantic and has an excellent legacy when it comes to exploring and fishing in the Atlantic Ocean. Hence, during my trip in Norway, I was totally overfed with seafood. I’m not complaining though! It was gorgeous and fresh!

More stockfish!

Stockfish is probably considered as one of the trademarks of Norway. The fish are hung to dry on the fish racks for a few months before its harvest. This tradition has been known since probably the Vikings time in Norway. The drying of the food was a method of preserving their food stock in the Arctic region due to the long winter season. When you visit Norway, don’t forget to try stockfish.

So here are the mouth-watering desserts I had during my trip in Norway. Most of them were sourced from the local suppliers.

Stockfish ice cream is a mixture of the sweet blend of vanilla ice cream with the hint of stockfish. Something tastes fishy in this ice cream!

Brown cheese ice cream!! A must try when you visit Norway

Cheese is always a good idea!  So Brown Cheese is one of the most loved food in Norway. The best way to describe the taste of brown cheese is a mild cheddar flavour with a hint of unsweetened caramel. A lovely accompaniment with crackers and fish fillets.

I hope you enjoyed this #foodporn article of mine.
